‘My Village My World’ launched in Kathua

The ‘My Village My World’ mission was today launched here today and to kick start the activities the District Development Commissioner Kathua, Ajay Singh Jamwal planted a sapling at Government Degree College Kathua as part of plantation drive.The DDC also flagged off Green Walk rally under “My Village My World” Mission where hundreds of school students carrying placards with messages marched through the Kathua town. The rally    culminated at District Sports Stadium, where a programme featuring debate, skits and cultural items was organized on the theme of Clean & Green India. The DDC while speaking on the occasion highlighted the objectives of “My Village My World mission” He appealed to all the stakeholders to come forward to regulate the growth of the village in a planned and scientific manner. He said by  dedicating just few hours  in a week by an individual for maintaining cleanliness in his locality will go a long way to achieve a systematic improvement in living conditions. He said this simple habit of cleanliness can help in achieving other objectives like polythene free village/state, conservation of natural water resources including Springs, Wells, Ponds, River, Nallahs besides a clean, green, wealthy and disease free environment.

The DDC also urged the gathering to make this cleanliness drive as permanent feature and observe the first day of every month as Safai Diwas( Cleaning Day).The CMO Kathua underlined the need to spread the message of disease free and healthy life.Similar programmes were held at District Hospital,  Lakahnpur, Logate, Badala, Jandore, hiranagar and Marheen besides Gram Sabhas   panchayats under the supervision of respective BDO’S and Sarpanchs.At Logate DDC Kathua participated in Plantation Drive which was organized in coordination with horticulture department. A mass pledge, theme based cultural programme, debate were among the key features of the programme.The DDC appealed the gathering especially school student to plant a tree and take proper care of it. He also appealed for restoring natural assets like ponds and khuls and to follow old practice of community plantation in the villages besides planting Bodh and Peepal tree at central place of the village.
