Peoples Party of Punjab (PPP) today suffered a major setback as Dr. Lajpat Chaudhary, who got the party ticket from Rajpura constituency along with his thousands of supporters deserted PPP and joined Shiromani Akali Dal here today in the presence of SAD President and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal. Mr. Jasvir Singh Jassi Manvi, member Jila Parishad and District Planning Board Sangrur also joined Shiromani Akali Dal on this occasion.Dr. Lajpat Chaudhary is second time MC from Rajpura. His wife Mrs. Neeru Chaudhary, who was PPP’s covering candidate from Rajpura secured 6000 votes during last assembly elections, as the nomination papers of Mr. Chaudhary got rejected on some technical grounds. Along with Dr. Lajpat Chaudhary other senior leaders of the PPP, Dr. Sanjeev Chaudhary, Dr. Jagdish Chaudhary, Mr. V. K. Setia, Mr. B. P. Sharma, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Kala, Mr. Jagdish Kumar and Mr. Hardev Singh also bid forwarded the PPP and joined SAD. Welcoming the PPP leaders into party folds SAD President said that the leaders, who joined PPP with idealism, have understood the hollowness of total experiment and now PPP was a single man party with no supporters. He said that SAD-BJP is moving with the constructive development agenda whereas the rival parties have no plan for the development of the state. Expressing full faith in the policies and ideology of Shiromani Akali Dal, Mr. Chaudhary and Mr. Jasvir Singh said that they have realised that SAD was the only party that can put the Punjab on accelerated pace of growth and prosperity. He said the SAD President has a vision to take Punjab at the pinnacle of the glory by ushering in unprecedented development works besides governance reforms.Prominent amongst others Mr. Ajaib singh Mukhmailpur, former minister, Bibi Harpreet Kaur Mukhmailpur, MLA, Faujinder Singh Mukhmailpur, District President SAD Patiala Rural, Harpal Singh sarao, Circle President SAD Rajpura Urban were also present on the occasion.
