Kiran Choudhry, Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party, has blamed the BJP Government, led by the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal Khattar, for the woes suffered by the beneficiaries of the old age pension. The problem lies with the decision to upload all bank accounts by July 15, 2015 action on which seems to be lagging, she said. In a statement issued here today, the former Excise and Taxation minister said that snags in uploading the bank accounts of all old age pensioners have made them run from pillar to post to get their due. Either the government should extend the deadline for uploading or make the banks do the needful fast, she demanded. The pensioners of Alakhpura, Bawani Khera, Kharak Kalan and Gujrani villages of Bhiwani district and some from Rohtak and other districts have been running from pillar to post for their pension for the last three months. This shows their cavalier attitude towards poor and old, she stated.

“So much so, the BJP councillors are at places joining the pensioners in protesting against their own government for its failure to do justice to the beneficiaries and get them pension on time. The government had promised that bank accounts of all pensioners will be uploaded but it has not been done due to which the pensioners are facing problems,” Ms Choudhry stated. The state government should move fast in the matter and ensure that the uploading work is completed fast so that the pensioners get their due on time. If required, the deadline for uploading should be extended. In the run-up to the polls, the BJP had promised to double the old age pension to Rs 2,000, but it added insult to injury by increasing it by only by Rs 200 per month, she added.
