14 fishermen went missing,Two killed as cyclone Komen hits coastal Bangladesh

At least two people were killed and a total of 14 fishermen have been missing since the morning as cyclonic storm lashed over Saint Martin’s Island under Teknaf upazila in coastal Cox’s Bazar district an many other coastal areas  on Wednesday night and Thursday.The tropical storm was heading towards Mongla Seaport in Bagerhat, said an official of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.Cox’s Bazar assistant meteorologist, AKM Nazmul Haque told journalists the storm crossed the Cox’s Bazar coast around 11:00pm on Wednesday.The coastal areas were asked to show danger signal number seven, the meteorologist added on Thursday.Mohammad Islam, 50 of Saint Martin’s island died as a tree uprooted on him, said local union council chairman Moulana Murul Amin.Noor Islam, 52 of Kalyankalash village under Galachipa upazila in Patuakhali district as another three fell on him due to the heavy storm at around 12:30pm on Thursday, Nazrul Islam, acting deputy commissioner, Patuakhali district told.Fourteen fishermen of Char Kukrimukria in Bhola district have been missing in the in the Bay of Bengal since Thursday morning, said police official Noor Mohammad.Low-lying areas of coastal Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Feni, Laxmipur,Noakhali, Chandpur,  Patuakhali, Bhola, Bagerhat, Pirojpur and some other districts were inundated due to storm surge of about 5 feet height above the normal tide, local administrative officials  said.
