Referring to the issue of the Shamlat land grab, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today said there was absolutely no political vendetta against Punjab Congress President Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa. "In fact it is we who have faced vendetta at the hands of the Congress during its earlier tenure in office."Addressing a press conference before laying various foundation stones of development works, Mr. Badal said the SAD did not believe in the politics of retribution and that the ‘priority of SAD was the overall development of the state."if at all we have to talk about political vendetta then it must be recorded that it was the Congress Government which registered a false case against my mother. Wasn't that a case of political vendetta?" he asked. Clarifying further in Bajwa's land grab, Mr. Badal said the Revenue Department has been entrusted with the enquiry in the case.

Replying to a query on the Ludhiana Metro Rail Project, Mr. Badal said that it was a project worth Rs. 10000 crores which was being financed by the Union government as well as International companies. He said that keeping in view the nature of the project, it would take at least five years to be completed. On the issue of the alleged involvement of certain political leaders in the cases of drug smuggling, Mr. Badal said the state government had already launched a massive campaign against drugs in the state and it was committed to take strict action against anybody caught in the smuggling net, howsoever senior or politically well connected he may be.Referring to the cleaning of Buddha Nalla, Mr. Badal said that the government had formulated a plan worth Rs. 250 crores for the beautification and cleaning up of Buddha Nalla. Lashing out at the Punjab Congress, Mr. Badal said the party was facing the wrath of the people and was in total frustration. The hollow leaders of the dying party were bent upon indulging in propagating against the ruling SAD-BJP government on empty coffers. He asked the Congress to furnish the details of the development projects they brought, if any, for Punjab during its 5 year long tenure in office?
