Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said amendments to six green laws are likely to be finalised by October. The ministry received 55 recommendations from the TSR Subramanian Committee which was constituted in August to suggest recommendations for overhauling six key environmental laws concerning the protection and conservation of environment, forest, wildlife, water and air."We have got major inputs but have not accepted all the 55 recommendations," Javadekar said, adding that due deliberations with other ministries, experts and stakeholders has been done."We have appointed a law and management firm and have looked into the best practices of countries like Britain, China, the US, Indonesia, Brazil and South Africa and have seen their laws," he said."It (firm) has found the gaps in laws and what is needed and want changes should there be. After this, there will be a draft which should be ready by October," he said.A report by a parliamentary panel chaired by Congress MP Ashwani Kumar has slammed the TSR Subramanian Committee report arguing that it would "dilute" the existing laws meant to protect environment.
