Tourism Minister meets Governor

Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Minister for Tourism, called on Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today.During their meeting, Mr. Mir briefed the Governor about the various initiatives taken by the Tourism Department in the past year for the promotion of tourism in each of the three regions of the State.The Governor reiterated his concern about the vital importance of protecting and preserving the natural beauty of the scenic areas through effective enforcement of traffic regulations, maintenance of roads and bridges, collection and disposal of garbage, identification of land fill sites, storm water drainage system etc. And most important of all concerns would be to ensure against buildings, of whatever kind, coming up along the streams and rivers and, further, the need to strictly implement a master plan of sewerage treatment in every town. Mr. Mir stated that his department was sensitively aware of these concerns and doing all that is possible to maintain cleanliness and aesthetics of every area.
