At least 8 persons including four government forces personnel were injured when unidentified ultras lobbed a grenade at a CRPF vehicle outside a private school gate in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.Eyewitnesses told CNS the grenade was hurled towards a parked CRPF vehicle (JK02A-5895) when Para-military troopers were busy having lunch inside and around the vehicle. “The vehicle had been parked outside Oxford School located at KP road Anantnag. The explosion created panic among school children while shopkeepers downed their shutters after the attack.”
A police official said that 8 persons including the 4 CRPF personnel from 96 Battalion received minor injuries and all of them were discharged from the hospital after given first aid. The official identified the injured CRPF personnel as Sunil Duri, Chaman Lal, Nisar Ahmed and Chandar Kumar. The injured civilians were identified as Abdul Majid Mir of Kadipora, Abid Ali lone of Sarnal, Ghulam Muhammad Wani of Sagam Kokarnag and Bashir Ahmed Alaie, a resident of Watrsoo Anantnag.Searches were conducted after the attack and nearly for half an hour, traffic was disrupted on the road. A police official said that attackers managed to flee from the spot and no one was taken into custody. (CNS)
