Bharatiya Janata Party Tuesday asked the government to restore the pristine glory of the famous ski resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir and put an end to illegal constructions going on in the area.In a statement to KNS BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir alleged: “The previous NC-Cong regime has ruined the health resort by allowing the haphazard construction of hotels in the area. It’s unfortunate that land of beautiful meadows is slowly turning into concrete jungle.” Jehangir expressed surprise over Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) sleeping over the issue and allowing these illegal constructions in the world famous resort. “It’s strange that the GDA which was constituted to develop Gulmarg has become a party to its vandalization and has a turned a blind eye towards the plight of Gulmarg,” the BJP spokesman added.
Jehangir said that Gulmarg is the crown of Jammu and Kashmir but due to previous regime neglecting the health resort it lost its pristine glory. “The Chief Minister should take a serious note of the illegal constructions taking place in Gulmarg and stop vandalization of this famous health resort,” he added. Jehangir said that besides stopping these illegal constructions government should ensure that cleanliness of the health resort is maintained. “The Chief Executive Officer GDA should wake up and ensure that Gulmarg is kept clean,” he added.
