Sopore , 21 Jul 2015

The department of food and drug administration Tuesday seized all the stock of ‘Talirise 40’ (medicine prescribed to hypertension patient) from Stockist, Sub-Stockist, Retailers and Distributors after a patient from North Kashmir’s Sopore town alleged that the medicine is adulterated.Reports said that the condition of a hypertension patient Haji Ghulam Muhamamd Nadroo from Muslimpeer village of Sopore town went from bad to worse after consuming ‘Talirise 40’ tablets. When I observed the tablets carefully I found ash emanating from them. I immediately went up to the medico from whom I had procured the tablets, and he informed me that it is the distributor who is at fault. Accordingly I lodged a complaint with the Drug Controller Department.Eyewitness told CNS that a team from food and drug administration arrived in Sopore and seized all the tablets of the same batch (AL3220) from the medico. On the directions of Director Drug Controller, the medicine from the same batch was seized from all the stockists, sub-stockists, retailers and distributors across Kashmir Valley and hypertension patients were asked not to consume the drug till it is cleared from the laboratory.

Talarise 40’ drug is the product of Chandigarh based Adelife Science laboratory while the medicos in Valley openly prescribe this drug to blood-pressure patients.Confirming it, Director Drug Controller Nazir Ahmed Wani told CNS that after receiving a complaint from a patient, a team of experts seized the drug from a particular batch and referred it to the laboratory for test. “We will initiate action against the distributor, the manufacturering company and the retailer if the report comes negative. We have asked the lab officials to provide report on priority bases,” Wani said.Wani said that if the sample report confirms the mixing of ash then FIR will be lodged and medicine will be destroyed.  (CNS)
