Addressing the media at Party headquarter State Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Party Advocate Vibodh Gupta lambasted the Congress and the National Conference for deliberately ignoring the Pahari speaking people of district Rajouri and Poonch as well as parts of district Kupwara of the Kashmir Valley and demanded that Pahari people be provided Scheduled Tribe (ST) status without any further delay. He termed ST Status as the birthright of the Pahari Community and warned the government of serious consequences if ST Status is not granted to Paharies . Accusing the Congress and the national Conference responsible for plight of Pahari People of district Rajouri Poonch and Karnah, Uri of Kupwara, Vibodh said Congress and the National Conference did criminal injustice with Paharies as nothing has been done so far except hallow slogans and false assurances by Congress and National Conference leaders. He asked Pahari Community to teach the lesson to Congress and National Conference in upcoming Lok Sabha election and next year assembly election for betraying the community. Vibodh accused the Congress-NC for playing with the sentiments of 30 lakh Pahari people and with the carrier of more than two lakh pahari youths for not granting ST Status for Pahries. He said “hon’ble High Court –J&K, in 2007 had also recommended to Union Government to grant S.T. Status to Pahari Community without any further delay, but the Congress led Union government even turn down the direction of hon’ble High Court and still the issue is unresolved” BJP leader said in 1947 when our forces were advancing to Vacate Mirpur, Koti, Bhimber Baag, Plandari, Rawalakote etc. from the illegal occupation of Pakistan, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru then Prime Minister in Consultation with Sheikh Abdullah order Ceasefire and stopped the forces those were successfully advancing and the conspiracy behind the ceasefire was to pide the most powerful Pahari community in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, he added. He said Congress and the National Conference repeatedly befooled the Pahari community but did nothing for the upliftment of economically backward Pahari Community. He said the Pharies are loosing the patience against the criminal injustice meted out by the Congress and the National Conference and warned of serious consequences if ST status is not granted to Pharies. BJP leader asked the Pahari Community to get United to fight for ST Status and termed it as the birth right of the Community. Vibodh also demanded political reservation for Gujjars and Bakerwals in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, even having the ST Status, Gujjars and Bakerwals are not granted political reservation in Assembly, is clear cut violation of the Constitution of India and the Human rights of the Community, he added . Others who were present in the Press Conference were BJP State Vice-President Chander Prakash Ganga, State Treasure Chander Mohan Gupta and BJP Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Incharge Yudhvir Sethi.
