Describing Shopian as a potential area for developing of Industries besides Horticulture and Tourism, the District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat has said it was time good enough for all industrial investors to start their income generating units.The District Development Commissioner Shopian inspected the Industrial Estate Gagren today and had an on the spot interaction with Unit Holders, workers of Shopian in the self employment units. The Additional District Development Commissioner Shopian, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, General Manager DIC Shopian and other officers and officials of the Industrial Department accompanied the District Development Commissioner during his inspection. The District Development Commissioner was briefed that at the moment about nine Industrial Units were functional and fresh allotments of the land has been made in case of ten entrepreneurs.It was given out that the annual turnover of all these units was 10 crores which is likely to make quantum jump in the coming years. The units include Steel Fabrication, Spices and Oil, Mechanized Bakery, Carburized Boxes, Offset Printing, Cement Hallow Blocks.The District Development Commissioner hopped that the future of budding entrepreneurs who have invested or likely to invest was bright and was optimistic that the Industrialization process was sustainable and the District Administration shall provide all the requisite facilities to the entrepreneurs.It is pertinent to mention here that the industries Department is creating one more industrial zone at Turkhwangam Shopian for which 500 Kanals of land is being identified by district administration.
