A meeting of officers was chaired by District Development Commissioner Kathua Ajay Singh Jamwal to discuss arrangements for the celebration of Independence Day, 2015.Additional District Development Commissioner Kathua, Manmohan Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua , Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, ACR Kathua Atul Gupta, SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal, Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineers of different works departments; Officers from CRPF, Police , Principals of government and private educational institutions were also present in the meeting.It was informed that the main function will be held at Sports Stadium, Kathua where the VIP will unfurl the National Flag and take salute from the mega parade comprising of the contingents drawn from District Police, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, NSS, NCC boys and girls, scouts and guides, platoons drawn from various Government and Private schools.
The celebrations on the day will begin with playing of Shahnai Vadan and patriotic songs by Information Department.DDC directed the officers to make proper arrangements well in time. He also issued necessary directions to the concerned officers to ensure arrangements like security, sanitation, seating, barricading, water and power supply, prize distribution issuance of invitation cards, transportation and illumination of important buildings on Independence Day. Fire services has been directed to put in place the fire tenders at the venue, Health department to depute staff during Rehearsal and I-day with the provision of ambulance. Regarding presentation of cultural programme, the DDC directed the institutional heads of government and private school/colleges to organize cultural programme with innovative ideas based on patriotic and cultural themes.DDC also constituted various committees for different activities and exhorted upon them to start with the preparations well in advance so that the day is celebrated with fervor and gaiety.
