Police arrest 3 persons for selling expired food items in Sopore

Police on Monday said it have arrested three shopkeepers for selling expired items in apple town Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.“Acting on a specific information, a special police party headed by Station Houise Officer, Sopore Masrat Ahmad, raided three provisional stores including Noorani traders, Lateef Ahmad provisional store and Tariq Ahmad provisional store”, a police official told GNS.During checking, expired materials in shape of chocolates, biscuits, edible oil toffees and other items were seized on spot, the official said.Following the seizure of expired items, a case Fir no.145/2015 u/s 269,273 RPC have been registered and further investigation has been taken up, the official added.The police action came amid reports that children suffered minor ailments after consuming such type of expired items.
