Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today wanted the Income Tax department to probe the huge disproportionate assets of the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s family which run into thousands of crores of rupees.Addressing a massive rally in the grain market organised by the local MLA Amrik Singh Dhillon here today, Capt Amarinder wondered as why Income Tax department was not taking any notice of Badals’ disproportionate assets. He pointed out, the Badal family has so many hotels worth Rs 1000 crores each while another was coming near Chandigarh. He also referred to Rs 60 lakhs disbursed among two accident victims by the Badals. He wanted to know as whose money was it? “If it is the government money, why is it being paid for the faults of the Badals’ drivers and if it is Badals’ money, why Income Tax is not taking any note of it that where from does this money come and where it is accounted for”, he asked.Similarly, he pointed out, the Badals have a fleet of hundreds of luxury buses with each bus costing more than a crore of rupees. Besides, he added, the Badals have thousands of acres of land across the country and abroad.“I am surprised as how Parkash Singh Badal could make such a fortune with just 80 acres of land he inherited from his father sixty years ago”, he remarked, while wondering, how come no other farmer has got so rich as Mr Badal. He pointed out, rather the farmers’ land holdings are shrinking and a number of them are committing suicide in distress and depression.

Lashing out at his myopic vision, Capt Amarinder asked Badal to list one single achievement or one single promise he had made in the manifesto and fulfilled. Referring to the crisis in farming, he disclosed that when he was the Chief Minister he had initiated several moves towards diversification which Mr Badal abandoned for two reasons. One he did not want the Congress to take any credit as it would have benefitted the farmers and second he did not want other farmers to prosper. The former Chief Minister cautioned people to beware of the fake allurements of the Badals lest they end up electing them once again. “You have seen what hell they have created out of Punjab”, he warned while urging them to themselves compare the two governments one led by the Akalis and another led by him before them.Referring to the Aam Aadmi Party, Capt Amarinder referred to the lack of experience of the AAP. He pointed out, how the AAP was in complete disarray in Punjab with leaders fighting against each other, while in Delhi they had not been able to govern. “It is the question of the destiny of Punjab which is in your hands and you have to make a careful choice”, he told the crowd amidst loud shouts of Capt Amarinder Zindabad.

Among others present on the occasion included Amrik Singh Dhillon, Rana Gurjeet Singh, Gurkirat Kotli, Tej Parkash, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Mohd Sadiq, Navtej Cheema, Joginder Singh Panjgraian, Kawaljit Dhillon, Gurmail Pahalwan, Pawan Dewan and others.
