The serenity of the Hussainiwala Enclave was mesmerized with the notes played by the Army Buglers of the ‘Last Post’ from the roof top of the historical Hussainiwala Railway Station as Lt Gen K J Singh, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Command laid the inaugural wreath and observed a two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the Martyrs at the newly constructed “ Prerna Sthal” at Hussainiwala(Ferozepur) today.   Lt Gen N P S Hira, General Officer Commanding Vajra Corps and Maj Gen S C Meston, General Officer Commanding Golden Arrow Division were also in attendance along with a large number of Army Personnels, Veterans and Civil dignitaries.

“Prerna Sthal” as it stands at the gateway of Sacred Samadhi of Shaheed Bhagat Singh; is  a sentinel to the revered piece of land at Hussainiwala. It encompasses seven pillars made of sand stone with Copper finish metallic inscription plaques.    The central pillar relatively larger in size,  carries a portrait of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.    The first of the six smaller ancillary pillars has been scripted with motivational verses in the honour of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and remaining five pillars narrate brief of various battles fought in this specific place, as well as the names of Martyrs and details of Gallantry awards.

After the solemn ceremony organized today at Hussainiwala,  Lt Gen K J Singh,  Army Commander, Western Command dedicated this monument to the Nation.  While addressing the audiences the General Officer said that the monument will remind us to the supreme sacrifices made by the Soldiers of Indian Army and will continue to inspire us to give our best to the Nation.   On this day, dedicated to the remembrance of the gallant soldiers, the Army Commander also visited the memorial at Asal Uttar, to pay homage to CQMH Abdul Hamid, Param Vir Chakra who attained martyrdom in Indo-Pak War in the year 1965.
