Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal President Shiromani Akali Dal today said that UN judgement on Sikhs right to wear turban was a slap on the face of Congress led UPA government that has failed to take up their cause properly in the internatanal fora
Talking to media persons at Adampur and here today Mr. Badal said that SAD had been pleading to Congress led UPA government to effectively take up all diplomatic measures with France beside putting up UN pressure on that country on the issue of right of Sikhs in France to wear their religious symbol turban. He said that on this issue he along with Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal and Member Parlimament Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal called upon Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister, emphasiszing the sensivity and gravity of the issue and neccessasity to take up issue effectively with the France government. He said that the party delegation also submitted Memorandum to France Ambassdor in India and Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal raised the issue with France President at the official dinner hosted by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
He said that our repeated pleading with the Union government raised hackles from Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt. Amarinder Singh who gave a unsolicited advice that Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal does not know intricacies of international diplomacy and this issue cannot be taken by Union government neither with the France government nor with United Nation. He said that Capt instead of supporting the cause of Sikhs and their right to wear turban gave us a tutorial on the intricacies of international diplomacy.
The SAD President said that the victory of Sikhs to wear turban in France is victory of SAD stand on turban besides victory of collective will power of Sikhs residing all over the globe.
Seeking unqualified apology from Capt. Amarinder Singh for scuttling this issue Mr. Badal said that mishandling of turban issue reflects his poor understanding of Sikh psyche and weak kneed policy to tackle any crisis faced by Sikh panth.
When asked about ‘Black ink ‘attack on Baba Ramdev, Mr. Badal said that those people who ordred lathi charge and tear gas on the agitation of Baba seem to behind this nefarious attack on Holy man. He said that relentless fight of Baba Ramdevagainst Black Money and his insistanceon revealing the names of Swiss Bank account holders has rattled Congress Party and they have tried to browbeat Baba with this ink attack. He said that Congress Party’s “Dirty Trick”pision has mastered this art as they earlier orchestered such attacks on Shashi Bhushan and Arvind Kejriwal of Anna team and now Baba Ramdev is on firing line. Mr. Badal said that electorate was wise enough to see though the whole game of Congress pary and has already made its mind to decimate this party in 5 state elections.
