To meet the challenges of unemployment and to develop the professional skills among unemployed educated youth, Minister for Social Welfare, ARI Trainings, Sakina Itoo today inaugurated the two days Employment Fair at High School Chimmer in Damal Hanji Pora Kulgam. Speaking on the occasion Ms. Itoo impressed upon the officers to dedicate themselves to encourage the unemployed youth to set up their income generating units so as to become self reliant.”The endeavour of the government is to impart awareness of entrepreneurship skills among the unemployed youth so that rather relying on the govt jobs they can earn their livelihood,” she added.

While addressing the huge gathering of people, the Minister appealed them to visit the stalls to get information about different income generating schemes to get benefited “The present govt. under the dynamic and charismatic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to provide good, transparent and accountable governance to the public”, she said.The two days employment fair is being organised by the department of Employment and Counselling Centre Kulgam in collaboration with Department of Education. As many as 23 stalls have been installed by different departments to educate the unemployed youth about the various income generating units.

The Minister inspected the stalls established by various departments and was informed that the Handicrafts department have till now registered 1250 artisans in Noor Abad Constituency under different schemes and Kulgam is leading district in the valley to issue craft loan to achieve the targets well in time.Responding to the demands of the public, the Minister assured them that Chimmer village will soon get the health centre upgraded to the level of primary health centre besides that a centre of Animal Husbandry will work on internal arrangements. She directed the Deputy Commissioner to identify the state land for setting up Sports Stadium in Chimmer Village besides issued the instructions to repair the damaged L.T/H.T network and road leading to Shrine of Noor-din-Wali.

Pertinently about 2000 people attended the Mela out of whom 1000 were registered under different categories. It was also informed that under voluntary service allowance 7640 unemployed youth have received Rs 4.26 crore till April this year and under state self employment as many as 158 units have been established by giving Rs 1.55 crore subsidy besides the department has generated 115 works from unemployed professional youth and organized 12 counselling sessions and 2 awareness camps.Besides Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Director Social welfare Kashmir and all the district officers were present in the employment fair.
