Shabir reviews health projects in Baramulla

Hospital buildings worth Rs 157 cr under construction

Underscoring the need for time bound completion of ongoing health projects in the state, the Minister of State for Health; Shabir Ahmad Khan called upon concerned executing agencies to redouble efforts to complete the projects in the stipulated time frame.Reviewing pace of work of various under construction hospital buildings in Baramulla district at an officers meeting here today, the Minister directed the concerned executing agencies to submit the utilization certificates, for release of next installments of funds. He instructed concerned departments to maintain close coordination and address bottlenecks.Managing Director, JKPCC, Mission Director, NRHM, Joint Director Planning Health Department, Deputy Director Health Services Kashmir, Chief Medical Officer, Baramulla, besides other senior officers of concerned departments attended the meeting. 

Receiving appraisal from the concerned executing agencies, the Minister was briefed that over a dozen health projects involving total cost of Rs 157.80 crore are under execution in district Baramulla against which Rs 74.30 crore have been expended on these projects till last financial year and during current fiscal, Rs 10 crore are being spent on these projects.

The meeting was informed that construction work on Rs 65.89 crore District Hospital, Baramulla, is apace and till last fiscal, Rs 37.26 crore have been expended on this project. The OPD block of the hospital has been completed and made functional while as the work on IPD block is at its final stage. It was also given out that construction work on Sub-District Hospital Sopore was taken up at a cost of Rs 56.90 crore against which Rs 28.56 crore have been expended and OPD and IPD blocks completed while remaining work on the project is apace.

The meeting was informed that construction work on SDH Pattan, PHCs Singpora, Ladoora, Dangerpora, Kunzar and Rehama are also apace at the total estimated cost of Rs 14.43 crore against which Rs 9.11 crore has been expended on these hospital buildings up to last financial year.The meeting also reviewed overall health scenario of Rafiabad constituency.The Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure timely approval of drawings for the construction of Community Health Centre at Dangiwacha. He said that the construction work of CHC building would be taken up shortly at an estimated cost of Rs 20.95 crore and this fiscal Rs 70 lakh is proposed to be spent on this project. He said that construction of Trauma Hospital in Rafiabad would be also taken up at a cost of Rs 2.65 crore. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure completion of all formalities for taking up these projects well in time.The Minister directed Chief Medical Officer Baramulla to submit list of vacant posts of doctors and other para-medicos to the higher authorities for filling up the same in health institutions of the constituency. He also instructed for ensuring frequent visits by CMO to remote areas.The Minister directed the concerned authorities to approach PSC authorities for timely selection of doctors to fulfill the shortage of these in some health institutions. He said under RBSK, government would shortly engage as many as 468 ISM doctors which would help in improving healthcare especially in rural areas.
