Intensifying its campaign to check the corruption in the government offices, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau, has been successful in nabbing 5 officers red handed while accepting bribe in the month of May. VB has also initiated fresh vigilance inquiries in 12 other cases. Similarly VB completed the probe and investigation in 14 bribery cases subsequently challans have been filed in the courts.Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that during the month of May, 2015 the Vigilance Bureau besides apprehending 5 corrupt officers also registered 5 criminal cases in the month. He said that 2 case of disproportionate assets were registered against the officers on charge of amassing wealth beyond their known income sources.He said that all these officers were booked under Prevention of Corruption Act-1988.The spokesman further said that during the resumed hearing in different cases of corruption, the Hon’ble courts pronounced sentenced to 3 persons in bribery cases.
