To speed up implementation of construction of household toilets in urban areas under Swachh Bharat Mission, the Ministry of Urban Development has enabled online filing of applications by the beneficiaries. The online mechanism also enables tracking of progress of construction of toilets by posting photographs. The Ministry of Urban Development to this effect signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Common Services Corporation (CSC) of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology today. The MoU was signed by Shri Praveen Prakash, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development and Dr.Dinesh Kumar Tyagi, Chief Executive Officer, CSC. Minister of Urban Development Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu and Minister of Communications and IT Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad were present on the occasion and lauded the initiative.

Common Services Corporation which has a network of over 1,40,000 Service Centres across the country will help the beneficiaries in filling up the applications and submitting them online along with necessary documents to the concerned approving authorities. Photographs of construction work also will be posted on line for the information of concerned authorities for monitoring and verification. The Ministry will pay Transaction Fee of Rs.20/- per application. The NIC unit of the Ministry of Urban Development has developed an online application for receiving applications online.
