Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik who courted arrest on May 29 was released on court orders along with more than 100 JKLF leaders and activists on Monday.In a statement to KNS a spokesman of JKLF said Malik was in Kothibagh police station for last 10 days while as others arrested were in central jail Srinagar. “These voluntary arrests were offered in protest against choking political space for resistance camp especially JKLF and it lasted for 10 days during which more than 100 JKLF leaders and activists courted arrest,” he said.After his release Malik said that first phase of JKLF peaceful protest against choking political space has ended and if there is no change in the policy of rulers Front will announce its second phase of protest.

He also paid rich tributes to his friend and one of the pioneers of the struggle in Jammu region late Syed Sarwar Hussain advocate of Surankot, Poonch. While remembering the struggle and sacrifices of late Sarwar, he termed him as a sincere leader who fought for the independence of Jammu Kashmir for whole life.Malik said that Sarwar’s sacrifices will be always remembered and the movement started and led by people like him will be taken to its logical end.Meanwhile a condolence meeting was held at JKLF headquarters in remembrance of Sarwar in which participants paid rich tributes to him and prayed for his heavenly abode.
