With a view to create awareness regarding environmental protection, a seven daylong seminar today concluded at Boys Middle School Bunglow Bagh Baramulla.District Development Commissioner, Baramulla Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Principal Women’s college Baramulla Maqsooda Khan, Deputy Chief Education Officer and other officers were present on the occasion.Students from various educational institutions participated in the seminar.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Development Commissioner stressed on mass awareness regarding environmental protection and said that the participation of people especially students at the local level is need of the hour. He highlighted the fact that global environmental problem is becoming a serious threat to Human existence and concrete steps need to be taken in this regard.
During the function, various cultural programmes were performed by the students of different schools depicting various feature of environment with special reference to the methods and strategies necessary for environmental protection. A painting and essay competition besides speeches by various students remained the focal point on this occasion. A quiz competition was also held on the occasion with the questions mainly based on environmental aspects.Prizes were also distributed among the students who obtained first, 2nd and 3rd positions in the Essay, Painting and Quiz competitions.
