Lashing out at the state government for its cruel joke with the people affected during devastating floods and rains last year, JKPCC Chief Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Mir has ridiculed the state government for rejecting the Rs. 44,000 crore relief and rehabilitation package formulated by the NC-Congress coalition government in the state.Addressing a largely attended Congress workers convention of District Kishtwar here today, President JKPCC Mr. G. A. Mir has ridiculed the state government for rejecting the Rs. 44,000 crore relief package for the flood and rain affected people as stated by the Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nirmal Singh wherein he has claimed that only Rs. 1,500 crore is needed for the rehabilitation of the affected people out of which only Rs. 1,000 crore would be provided by the centre for the purpose. He severely criticized the PDP-BJP coalition for being insensitive to the sufferings of the flood and rain affected people who lost their every thing and said that the government is adding insult to their sufferings. He said that the present coalition has failed to procure funds needed for the relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by floods and it was offering peanuts in the shape of less than Rs. 100/- to the farmers who lost their crops in the rains.

JKPCC Chief said that the present coalition government is now hiding its failure to secure financial assistance for the worst kind of devastation and is now befooling the people by heavily under estimating the losses on this account as stated by the Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nirmal Singh in an interview carried in one of the leading news paper of the state today. He (Mir) said that the PDP leadership had justified its unholy alliance with the BJP to secure huge funds for the welfare and development of the people of the state.Mr. Mir said that the BJP and the PDP leadership is hoodwinked the people during the election rallies to check-mate each other from entering the corridors of power and polarized the situation to the hilt. He said that the Prime Minister Mr. Narinder Modi during his election rallies asked people to stop PDP (“Baap Beeti Party”) from coming to power while PDP sought votes to check BJP’s Mission 44. He sensed a tactical understanding between the two parties for hoodwinking the people of the both the regions on these slogans and later delayed the formation of the unholy alliance to cover up their hidden understanding.President JKPCC said that the two parties have committed a sort of sin by throwing dust in the eyes the electorate by giving different slogans in order to secure their votes but later threw all those slogans in to the dustbin to share power. He said the flood and rain affected people including farmers are suffering while the ruling leaders are enjoying the luxuries at the cost of state exchequer of the poor tax payers money.

Mr. Mir said that the Batote-Kishtwar link road which is life line for the vast area of the District is in highly deplorable condition and has got converted into a death trap but the State and the Centre government are indifferent to the hardships of the people as the ministers are not even ready to themselves experience the condition of the road and prefer to travel through choppers at heavy expense. He referred to the various initiatives of the Congress led UPA government and the previous state governments on the initiative of the Congress party for the development and welfare of the people of erstwhile Doda district on various fronts. He referred to the contributions of leader of Opposition Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad (MP) for the development of the backward region, which needs carry forward of the initiatives and special attention in view of its topography as a vast remote and hilly terrain.

He said that the Congress is the only party which can ensure balanced and equitable development of each and every part and regions of the state in view of its secular and progressive approach and vision for the overall development of the state.
