Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs Ch Zulfkar Ali today reviewed the functioning of the SC/ST/OBC Corporation and directed taking effective measures to revamp it.The Minister gave these directions while chairing a meeting to review its functioning beside status of various ongoing schemes, loan disbursements and achievements.The meeting dwelt in length on the steps required to be taken for revival of the corporation to make itself sustained and more viable to provide more benefits to the targeted section of the society.Regarding pendency of subsidy cases of ST members, the Minister directed the concerned that subsidy under Tribal Sub Plan for more than 500 cases be released within shortest possible time adding that government shall guarantee the grants received from the Centre to give requisite thrust to employment of Tribal youth. He further directed the Director Tribal Affairs to vigorously pursue the pending loan cases with banks and get them cleared.
In order to make people aware about various welfare schemes, Minister impressed upon the concerned officers to start awareness campaign besides holding camps especially in far off areas for the purpose. He said the larger objective of the corporation is economic emancipation of the targeted group and it needs to double efforts in this regard.Expressing concern over non utilization of funds during the previous financial year, the Minister asked Managing Director to adopt effective measure to improve the overall working of the corporation and formulate a comprehensive skill development programme envisaging need based and income generating avenues and to submit the same to the Union Ministry.The Minister also constituted a committee headed by Secretary Tribal Affairs to look into the matter of non-utilization of funds and asked it to conduct a thorough enquiry and submit the report within 10 days.Secretary CA&PD, Secretary Tribal Affairs, MD SC,ST,OBC, Corporation, beside Divisional and District Managers attended the meeting.
