Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced that notification for recruitment for 25,000 government posts will be issued in July.Addressing state formation day celebrations here, he said the unemployed were waiting for jobs for years. He said though post-bifurcation problems were yet to be sorted out, the government has decided to start the recruitment process.He also announced that a two bed-room house scheme for the poor will be launched this year. Each house will be constructed at a cost of Rs.5.04 lakh. The government plans to build 50,000 houses this year at a cost of Rs.2,500 crore.Listing out the achievements of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government in the first year, the chief minister said people's welfare was the goal of the government. "The government is spending Rs.28,000 crore annually on various welfare schemes and Telangana is the only state to spend such a large amount on welfare," he said in his address at the main official celebrations at Parade Grounds.
KCR, as the chief minister is known, said there was a misinformation campaign by some that the new state will plunge into darkness but the government proved them wrong by overcoming the electricity shortage within six months.Promising 24-hour uninterrupted power supply to all sectors by 2017, the TRS chief said steps were being taken to make Telangana an electricity surplus state. "If necessary we will supply to other state."KCR said the government had achieved financial closure for power projects involving an investment of Rs.91,000 crore and work on three projects had already started.He said the government had drawn up plans to develop roads at a cost of Rs.20,000 crore.He spoke about Mission Kakatiya, the ambitious project of the government to revive 46,000 irrigation tanks in the state in five years.
The chief minister announced that the foundation stone will be laid soon for the Palamuru lift irrigation project at a cost of Rs.35,000 crore to solve fluoride problem in Nalgonda district.The foundation stone for another project will be laid this month to provide water for drinking and irrigation needs of drought-prone northern Telangana at a cost of Rs.30,000 crore.Stating that his government was pro-employee, KCR said it had increased the salaries of government employees by 43 percent.The salaries of Road Transport Corporation (RTC) employees were also revised by 44 percent. He said services of all contract employees in government departments will be regularized from next month.He said a massive plantation campaign will be taken up across the state. The government plans to plant 300 crore saplings. He said everybody from a student to an IAS officer should participate in 'Harithaharam' programme to be launched next month.The government also took up modernization of police force at a cost of Rs.400 crore, he added.
