Five directors of Bengal company nabbed in chit fund scam

Probing the chit fund scam in West Bengal, the CBI on Monday arrested five directors of the state-based Win Realcon for illegally raising public money."Win Realcon allegedly collected crores of rupees from the public which remain unpaid. Five of its directors have been arrested," said an official of the Central Bureau of Investigation.The five accused -- Mahitosh Ganguly, Partha Pratim Roy, Raju Dey, Joy Bhowmick and Rajib Debnath -- were arrested after being grilled by CBI sleuths. They will be presented before a court on Tuesday.The CBI had registered cases against many non-Saradha Group companies including Win Realcon in November 2014 on various charges including criminal breach of trust, cheating, criminal conspiracy and violation of Prize Chits and Money Circulation Scheme (Banning) Act.

Earlier in the day, a city branch of a nationalised bank furnished to the CBI, documents giving details of many accounts the state's ruling Trinamool Congress maintains with it.The probe agency, which has arrested and interrogated many Trinamool leaders, had sent notice to the bank earlier in the week, seeking details of the accounts, including the quantum of funds maintained in these accounts as well the sources from which they came.The Trinamool had in April furnished details of the party's accounts since 2010 to the CBI after the agency sought the details.
