Hailing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for spectacular performance in the last one year of NDA government, the Punjab Chief MinisterParkash Singh Badal today said that Mr. Modi has done ‘wonders’ in a short span of his tenure, which the Congress could never do even in two decades.Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of Sangat Darshan program here today, the Chief Minister, while congratulating Mr. Modi for successful completion of one year in office, said that under his visionary and dynamic leadership the prestige and honor of the country has enhanced across the globe during the last one year. He said that today India has emerged as global superpower in the world due to which every Indian, including the NRI brethren, was feeling proud on himself. Mr. Badal said that the miracles done by the Prime Minister for transforming the destiny of the country and its people within a year could never be done by the Congress party even in more than 20 years. The Chief Minister further said that during the last one year the NDA government has launched several pro-poor schemes like Jan Dhan Yojna, Swachh Bharat, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojna, Prime Minister’s Bima Suraksha, Atal Pension and Pradhan Mantri Jeewan Jyoti Bima Yojna for ensuring the welfare of the common man. He said that none of other government at the centre has ever initiated such pro-people schemes in a short span of one year. “Mr. Modi really deserves kudos for developing the country during the first year of NDA’s rule” added Mr. Badal.

Replying to another query, the Chief Minister said that the state government has embarked a major plan for strengthening the irrigational network to facilitate the people in the water logged areas of the state. Likewise, he said that several path breaking initiatives have been taken to facilitate the farmers of these areas, who have been facing the scourge of water logging time and again. Mr. Badal said that for the first time the Chief Engineer of the Irrigation department has been stationed in this area to monitor the ongoing operations for cleaning of drains and implementation of master plan to save this region from the fury of water logging. The Chief Minister also said that the state government has released the amount of compensation meant for the farmers who have suffered huge losses due to the incessant rains in the region during last year.

Earlier addressing the gatherings in village Aalamwala, Bodiwala, Midda, Raniwala, Mohlaan, Panniwala and others, the Chief Minister exhorted the public to play a proactive role in the development of the villages by personally supervising the ongoing development works in the state. He said that the people must personally ensure that the tax payer’s money was judiciously spent for the well being of the people. Mr. Badal said that no government whether at the state or centre level could ensure the development and prosperity of the country without the active support and cooperation of the general public.Terming the skill training as need of the hour, the Chief Minister said that the state government was making all out efforts to set up state-of-the-art Skill training centers in every nook and corner of the state so that people could be benefitted from it. He said that the youth especially the women must equip themselves with the power of Skill training so as to make them gainfully self employed.
