Srinagar , 19 May 2015

The class tenth results declared by Board of School Education for Kashmir Division Tuesday added to the sufferings of the two families in Srinagar city whose loved ones drowned in River Jehlum on May 10.The incident took place when Muhammad Haseeb Bhat of Khanyar and Faizan Malik of Sonawar, both aged 16 years, slipped into the river while trying to retrieve a cricket ball near Patthar Masjid Zaina Kadal. The father of one of the deceased Faizan Malik was lost and got depressed after he checked the result of his son on internet. Under roll number 8119273, his  son Faizan had secured 347 marks out of 500.Faizan and his friend Haseeb were the studenst of Mintoo Circle school Srinagar

Family of Faizan told CNS that it was heartbreaking for them to check the result of their ‘dead’ son. “Faizan was eager to get a new cell phone. He had asked his grandfather to buy a motorcycle for him after he succeeds in Matric examination. Instead of bike, his grandfather Abdul Gafar had promised him that he will get a vehicle for him,”  Muhammad Latif, the maternal uncle of Faizan Malik said. The families of both the drowned youth alleged that government did not take any pains in retrieving the bodies of Haseeb and Faizan. “Police put some efforts but on Tuesday no policemen were seen around the place where those youth slipped to death,” Mehak Iyaz, the younger sister of Haseeb told CNS.“We can't afford to pay private players and want the government to help us. This is our fervent appeal to the government,” she said. (CNS) (Photograph attached)
