Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education declared the result for annual matriculation examination on Tuesday in which Anika Shabir, daughter of Shabir Ahmad Rather of Hajahad Public School Awantipora under Roll Number 6140212 secured the first position with with 494 marks. Anika, a resident of Dadsara Tral obtained 98.80 percent marks.At least 182 students made it to the merit list in which 133 are girls while the number of male students is 49 only. Though, the overall pass percentage of boys (74.5) is higher than that of girls (68.8), however, as per the figures released by BOSE, relatively less number of girls (23600) appeared in exams than boys (26900).

Second position is shared by Shaheera Shamim of Hajhad Public School Awantipora, Shamikha Ali of Presentation Convent School Rajbagh, Nasleelah Fayaz of Linton Hall Secondary School Rajbagh and Jasafa Showket of Green Valley Educational Institute Illahi Bagh. All these students secured 98.20 percent with 491 marks each.Two students, both girls, Anoosh Javeed of Mallinson Girls Higher Secondary School Sheikh Bagh and Maliha Feroz of Presentation Convent School Rajbagh bagged third positions by securing 98.00 percent with 490 marks each.Fourth position was shared by Nisha Nazir and Taqwa Showkat both the students of St Joseph Higher Secondary School Baramullawith 489 marks (97.80 percent).

Three students all girls, Fajar Farooq and Sana Mushtaq both students of RP High School Mallabagh and Hafsah Mushtaq of Vision School of Education Saderbal shared fifth position by securing 97.40 percent with 487 marks each.A lone student Afnan Qadri of Oak Hill Institute of Edcuation Syedabad Soiteng bagged 6th position by securing 97.20 percent with 486 marks.Five students shared the seventh position with 485 marks (97.00 percent). These students include Mehnaz Raina of Abu Hanifa Public School Rajpora, Munazah Nazir of Tiny Harts High School Tengapora, Saat Sareen Yaqoob of Mallinson Girls Higher Secondary School Sheikhbagh, Arooj Ashraf and Sara Aftab both students of Presentation Convent Rajbagh.

All the first seven positions were secured by girl students. The eighth position shared by three students includes a male student Mir Murtaza of New Millennium Public School Handwara who secured 96.80 percent with 484 marks while other two students that bagged 8th position are Samin Fayaz and Tashafi Iqbal both from Presentation Convent Rajbagh.Ninth Position according to CNS was also jointly shared by eight students and all of them secured 96.60 percent with 483 marks. These students are Farhana Bashir of Mohammadia Educational Institute Khore Pattan, Zeeshan Akbar Ganaie of St Joseph Higher Secondary School Baramulla, Fatima Wani and Maria Raashid both from Mallinson Girls Higher Secondary School Sheikhbagh, Nehl Aslam from Presentation Convent Rajbagh, Haiqa Arjumand and Subreen Asad both from RP High School Malabagh.

    Five students shared the tenth position respectively with 482 marks (96.40 percent). These students are Riza Bashir Shah of St Peters International Academic Educational Trust Anantnag, Moin Ali Buch of Tyndale Biscoe School Sheikh Bagh, Sanah Yousuf from Presentation Convent Rajbagh, Faryal Ajaz Sikandar from Linton Hall Secondary School Rajbagh and Asia Chesti from Tibetian Public High School Badamwari Hawal Srinagar.According to CNS, total number of students enrolled for these examinations were 50,535 among which 26,920 were boys and 23,615 were girls. Girls once again outshine boys in merit list. The total number of students who qualified were 36,308 while 14,176 students cut a sorry figure in these examinations. The overall pass percentage was 71.85 (Boys 74.53 percent) and (Girls 68.80 percent). Last year, the overall pass percentage was 70.58 (Boys 73.82 percent) and (Girls 66.82 percent). (CNS)
