The Punjab Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema described the incident of the beating of the Director of ‘Mayor World School’ as unfortunate and shocking. He strongly condemned the incident and said that the violence of this magnitude in the premises of the School that too by the parent of a student could not be tolerated.In a statement released from Chandigarh Dr. Cheema said that if the parents may have to face some genuine problems with the teachers of a school, it does not mean they have to take law in their own hands. Dr Cheema described this incident totally unjustified, illegal and uncalled for.

Dr Cheema said that this incident has demoralised the morale of those persons especially in the teaching profession who were providing quality education with their own efforts. The Minister also urged all the parents across the state to not to take law in their own hands. He said that teaching is a noble and pious profession and requested all parents to respect the teaching fraternity.Dr Cheema himself talked to the Management of School and expressed his sympathy and concern with the school staff. He also talked to Jalandhar Police Commissioner and directed him to look into the matter and take immediate appropriate action as per the merit of case.
