Punjab Deputy Chief Minister  Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked the Punjab State Women Commission to expedite 'sensitisation drive' launched by the Commission to educate women about their rights. While unveiling the brochure highlighting the achievements of women commission here, Badal directed various concerned departments like police, civil and social security to ensure strict compliance of law pertaining to women rights. He also gave a clarion call to women in distress to take full advantage of policies and programme initiated by the Women Commission to put their cases on fast track. Lauding the grievances redressal mechanism of the Commission, Mr. Badal said it was matter of great satisfaction that the Commission had resolved more than 4543 complaints out of 4700 received by it. He said special directions have also been issued to women police cells and police stations to resolve cases pertaining to women on priority with minimum time ensuring 100 percent justice delivery.

Meanwhile Chairperson of commission Bibi Paramjit Kaur Landran also apprised Mr. Badal that the commission had received more than 266 complaints in the months of January and February out of which 127 have been resolved. She informed that Commission had also chalked out a special drive to educate women about protection from domestic violence. She said in this regard a  state level sensitisation seminar would be organised by the commission on 27 March  where CDPOs from all districts would participate. She said Social Security Minister Mr. Surjit Kumar Jyani will preside over the function besides sensitising the CDPOs for strict execution of domestic violence Act.  Bibi Landran also announced that Commission was in the process of launching a special drive in April to resolve the issues pertaining to women of border areas. She said the commission would visit the border belt of the state where cases relating to women issues would be examined on the spot besides initiating necessary action.
