The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister  Sukhbir Singh Badal today reviewed the status of ongoing development works in the industrial capital Ludhiana to realize the ‘Mission Ludhiana’ dream of Punjab Government.Presiding over a high level meeting with the officers of Ludhiana Administration, Municipal Corporation, Mayor and GLADA, Mr. Badal asked them to expedite the ongoing projects by completing all in given time frame and conclude the formalities for the projects in pipeline at the earliest. He said that by the end of 2015, the Ludhiana would be one of the most developed city in the country having modern infrastructures besides all basic amenities in a well-manner.It was informed in the meeting that the 8 laning of Rs. 209 crore 8 laning project of Ferozepur Road-Jagraon Bridge-Sidhwan Canal and construction of three Under Bridges would commence from December this and the project would be completed by the March 2015. Mr. Badal was also informed that the construction of Parking Complex at Feroze Gandhi Market with the cost of Rs. 35 crore would be completed in June 2015.The Deputy Chief Minister said that with a view to upgrade the living standards of slum dwellers under Rs. 136 crore project, the keys of 1100 dwelling units would be handed over to beneficiaries on January 26,2014 and by the end of June 2014 Ludhiana city would have a fleet of 210 city buses for the facilitation of residents and daily commuters. 

Giving details of strengthening of road infrastructure in the city, Mr. Badal said that all the roads would have road drains to improve durability, black topping, installation of traffic signs, lane markings, road furnishing, pedestrian crossing, footpaths and improvements of crossing/junctions. He said that for this purpose Hambran Road, Extended Hambran Road, Rahon Road, Tajpur Road, Gill Road, Dugri Road and Ishmeet Road has been identified and this project would be completed with a cost of Rs. 60 crore. The Deputy CM also informed that according to the plan of holistic development of Ludhiana Rs.88 crore to be expended for the internal works with complete maintenance of all 75 wards. He said the construction in this regard would start in January 2014. He said that start of construction of Indoor Stadium on Pakhowal Road was on the verge, which would be completed December 2015. He said that ROBs on Pakhowal and Dana Mandi with complete upgradation would also be concluded in 2015.  He said that the process to choose top consultants for development and maintenance of parks and green belts in the city has been initiated and with the end of 2014, all the parks of the city would have lush green looks. 

On the issue of Buddah Nullah, Mr. Badal said that a master plan in this regard has been prepared with Rs. 500 crore including Rs. 110 crore for roads was under consideration. He said that the work on these sites would be started in January 2014. He said that mechanized sweeping and washing of main roads in Ludhiana has also finalized and the work would start in January 2014. He said that modernization and development of slaughter house with a total Rs. 37 crore was also under consideration.Asking the authority to expedite the ongoing works, Mr. Badal directed them that all the works should be completed in stipulated time limits. Prominent amongst those present in the meeting including, Mr. Ranjit Singh Dhillon, MLA, Mr. H.S. Gohalwaria, Mayor, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Rajat Aggarwal, Mr. Ajay Mahajan, Special Principal Secretary to Deputy CM.
