A preliminary meeting to organize BJP Schedule Tribe morcha was held today at party hqrs., under the stewardship of BJP State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul alongwith State Secretary & Prabhari ST Morcha Er. Ghulam Ali Khatana and senior leader Prof. Hari Om.The BJP leaders and the members present had a very threadbare insight into the various problems faced by the ST community in the state which require to be redressed. At the very outset, Ghulam Ali Khatana gave a detailed view of this neglected community by saying that SC people are in almost every segment of the 87 constituencies of the state and all are exploited and neglected by the ruling political parties NC-Congress since independence. Quoting prominent examples, he said that this community being nomad in nature, requires several laws for the betterment of their lives such as extension of Travel laws to J&K, bringing political reservation, bringing them under the network of Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) the benefits of which so far are denied to them, district level recruitment ban on employment  should be lifted in case of the ST people and various other benefits. The members also brought out that the government has so far fully ignored the benefits of ST certificates as false ST certificates are being given to some blue-eyed people by manipulation and other acts of omission but not to the genuine ST community people. Another point attracting attention is that the government pert funds received from the Centre government meant for these Gujjar-Bakerwal and Gaddi and Sippy communities but these communities are often left dry.So in the meeting, it was resolved to  organize ST morcha to take care of the problems of ST community. Those who attended the meeting Bashir Ahmed Jogal, Lal Hussain Loda, Sarpanch Bashir Ahmed Khatana, Bashir Ahmed, Abdul Rashid of Reasi, Sarpanch Puran Chand and Kartar Chand and others.
