Union Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation Minister Uma Bharti and Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today discussed in the state Capital Ranchi the details of issues related with Irrigation, Flood Control and Pollution Control in River Ganga & its tributaries in Jharkhand. Senior officers from the Ministry of Water Resources and concerned officers of State Government were also present on this occasion. It was decided in the meeting that the multi-purpose Suvarnrekha project will be reviewed and completed in a time bound manner. Centre will support fully in this regard and will allocate required funds for his purpose. 

The state will send the remedial plan for the embankment cutting by river Ganga in the state to the Central Water Resources Ministry and the same will be taken up in the Ministries flood control programme. The Union Minister also assured that for the study of the adverse effects of Arsenic in the reverse flowing in the state she will sent a team of National Institute Hydrology and appropriate steps will be taken after its report. The Damodar River in the state is highly polluted as the effluents from the Steal and Coal industry have put a severe threat on the existence of river. The Central Government will fully support to make this river pollution free. Ms. Uma Bharti also gave her consent to a Jharkhand Government request of developing the flow of River Ganga as a model in the state.
