66th Republic day was celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir with great charm and zeal on Monday. TheDivsional Commissioner Kashmir Shri Rohit Kansal on the occasion of republic day function in Bakhshi Stadium to be residing in Summer Capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Kansal unfurled the tricolour and inspected guard of honour. Later, he took salute of the parade, in which contingents of Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Jammu Kashmir Armed Police, Indian Reserve Police, Women’s Police Force, District Police, National Cadet Cops, Fire & Emergency Services, students of various government and private schools participated. 

In the interim, the past day, Sher-I-Kashmir Police Medals for Meritorious and Gallantry Service was announced among the 30 Cops, Additional Director General of Police (MD JK Police Housing Corporation), Mr. Dilbag Singh, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone), Mr. Abdul Gani Mir, Deputy Inspector General, Armed Kashmir, Mr. Mushtaq Muhammad Sadiq were on lead.Security across the valley mostly in Srinagar city was beefed up ahead of republic day. Forces maintained strict vigil in city in order to keep law and order on line. Taut frisking also witnessed in the city since earlier past week.Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir in presently running under the rule of Governor Shri. NN Vohra. The state puts under governor rule earlier this month after Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stepped down as care taking CM. Soon after his stand down, President of India Shri. Pranab Mukherji ordered for governor’s rule in state.
