Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Wednesday said, “any attack on special status of Jammu Kashmir and its Muslim character is direct attack on our existence.”While addressing a gathering at Basant Bagh Chowk today to commemorate the massacre of 25th anniversary of Gawkadal massacre, he said, “21st January is an important day of our 5000 year old history. On this day thousands of unarmed people came out of their houses to demand freedom. These peaceful people were showered with bullets by forces. Same kind of massacres continued at Handwara, Sopore, Sailan Poonch, Zakura, bypass Batamaloo, Magarmal Bagh, Baderwah, Marmat Doda, and Bijebihara etc. the sole aim of India was to terrorize people of Kashmir through these brutal massacres and put an end on their march towards freedom but India failed in doing so as despite all these killings and oppressive measures, people of Jammu Kashmir have continued their revolution and march towards freedom.”

While speaking on the proposals of granting permanent citizenship of Jammu Kashmir to refugees from West Pakistan, Malik said, “Kashmiris will defend the special status of Jammu Kashmir even at the cost of their lives. Jammu Kashmir is a land full of forests and water bodies and lands of this kind are protected throughout the universe. Kashmir is in fact among one of the best places with pure water resources and it is the duty of the whole world to defend the ecology of Jammu Kashmir.”He said that state subject law is not associated to Jammu Kashmir only. “Many Indian hilly sates like Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram are also having similar kind of laws to safeguard their ecology and environment. Religious fanatics in India portray this as something different and are hell bent upon destroying this special status of Jammu Kashmir for their pity political gains and illegal occupation on Jammu Kashmir. These chauvinist forces and religious fanatics in 1947 massacred lakhs of Muslims in Jammu with impunity and thus changed the demography of Jammu city completely,” the JKLF chairman alleged.

He said that the condemnable conspiracies hatched at the behest of RSS and its allies under the garb of religion will go disparaged. “We will fight these conspiracies united and will not allow anyone to play with our identity. As humans we also share the pain of refugees from West Pakistan but if Indian state, its parliament and political parties are concerned about these humans why don’t they settle them permanently in states of India like Punjab, Haryana, UP etc,” Malik asked.“The refugees from West Pakistan are in every respect the citizens of India and granting  them  permanent citizenship of Jammu Kashmir, right to vote etc are a  conspiracy to destroy the existing social fabric of Jammu Kashmir, change the demography of the state and destroy its majority Muslim status. People of Jammu Kashmir will never remain silent spectators over these conspiracies and we will defend the special status of Jammu Kashmir, its Muslim character, its ecology and environment even at the cost of their lives,” he vowed.

While condemning the recent sketches published in France and other parts of Europe, Malik said, “Today the world is fast moving towards deterioration and decline as sacred people are being targeted by bunch of fools in the name of freedom of expression. This is in fact ugliest form of terrorism that is promoting hatred among the people. Prophet Muhammad SAW is the holiest man of the universe. Our prophet SAW is our pride and honor and no Muslim can take attack on the honor of our prophet SAW lightly.”He said that world should come forward and stop this nonsense of desecrating holy people because this nonsense is actually our world much worst place to live on. “Disgraceful acts by some rogue and unfortunate people can in no means put any blot on the Honor and dignity of our beloved prophet (Sallal Laho Alaihi Wasalam). The dignity of a prophet (SAW) whose honor has been elevated by Allah himself and whose enemies have been promised of pine punishment cannot be undermined by some blasphemous sketches,” Malik said.

While supporting the call for complete shutdown against blasphemous sketches given Mutahiuda Ulema I Ahlisunnat Waljamat on Friday, he appealed people to observe a complete shutdown.Meanwhile, a JKLF spokesman said before the procession a large number of enthusiastic youth, elders and women led by Malik, marched towards Basant Bagh Chowk from JKLF headquarters. “The participants were chanting slogans in favor of prophet Muhammad (SAW), Azadi and martyrs. After reaching Basant Bagh this rally took the shape of a Jalsa .The Jalsa was addressed by JKLF leader advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Chairman Malik and others,” he added.
