The Fatehgarh Sahib police has busted a gang of inter-district robbers with the arrest of 10 persons and the solving of several blind murder and robbery cases.Disclosing this here today, Mr. Gurmit Singh Chauhan, SSP, Fatehgarh Sahib said the investigations into the gang began as part of investigation of a terrorist module busted by the district police on September 6, 2013 and it was found that several hardcore criminals who had indulged in acts of murder and robberies were motivated to join terrorist modules for selective targeted killings in order to disturb communal peace in the state. He said that the following persons have been arrested by the district police on September 11, 2013 :-
1. Lovejit Singh s/o Surjit Singh r/o Tanda Mari, PS Ghuman, Gurdaspur
2. Avtar Singh s/o Shingara Singh r/o Tanda Mari, PS Ghuman, Gurdaspur
3. Sandeep Singh s/o Mangat Singh r/o Tanda Mari, PS Ghuman, Gurdaspur
4. Mandeep Singh s/o Satnam Singh r/o Tanda Mari, PS Ghuman, Gurdaspur
5. Ajmer Singh s/o Balkar Singh r/o Mari Buchina, PS Sri Hargobindpur
6. Balwan Singh r/o Chack Yakub, PS Khanuwan
7. Satnam Singh s/o Tarlok Singh r/o Tanda Mohalla, PS Kahnuwan
8. Amrik Singh s/o Bhupinder Singh r/o Tanda Mari, PS Ghuman, Gurdaspur
9. Daljit Singh s/o Bakshish Singh r/o Tanda Mari, PS Ghuman, Gurdaspur
10. Lakhbir Singh @ Lakha r/o village Behla,PS Sadar Tarn Taran
The SSP further said that the preliminary questioning of arrested persons has revealed a hardcore gang of criminals indulging in robberies and murder. Rana Partap Singh and his associate Lovepreet Singh Sodhi had murdered one jeweller Madan Lal on March 5, 2013 in the area of PS Bhogpur with the intention of committing robbery. Murder case registered vide FIR No. 36 dated 05-3-2013 u/s 302/34 IPC, 25 Arms Act, PS Bhogpur has been traced, he added. He said that four members of the gang, Rana Partap Singh, Maninderjit Singh @ Manu, Taranjit Singh @ Tinka and Lovejit Singh were involved in a shoot-out on a jeweller in village Dadian, PS Tanda, district Hoshiarpur on the intervening night of 12/13 July, 2013. A case FIR No. 174 dated 13-7-2013 u/s 307 IPC stands registered in PS Tanda in this regard. The criminal gang members were also involved in a robbery at pistol point in Tanda Urmur regarding which FIR No. 130 dated 31-05-2013 u/s 382 IPC stands registered in PS Tanda. Another robbery of gold and cash in village Waddi Miani was committed by the gang on the intervening night of 24/15 June, 2013 regarding which case FIR No. 156 dated 25-6-2013 u/s 382 IPC stands registered in PS Tanda. The gang was involved in a bank dacoity in the area of PS Ghuman regarding which case FIR No. 70 dated 25-7-2013, u/s 392 IPC, 25 Arms Act, PS Ghuman stands registered. The gang was involved in robbery of Rs. 50,000/- from Western Union money exchange located at village Nangal Lubana and case FIR No. 72 dated 18-8-2013 u/s 382 IPC, PS Begowal stands registered in this regard, he further added. He said that the gang was involved in a robbery at the house of Ashok Kumar at village Balladi in district Fatehgarh Sahib regarding which case FIR No. 143 dated 4-9-13 u/s 392 IPC stands registered in PS Fatehgarh Sahib.
He revealed that the preliminary questioning has revealed that the following persons were the ringleaders and main operatives of this gang and had close links with the terrorist module busted by the district police:-
1. Rana Partap Singh (arrested on September 6, 2013)
2. Maninderjit Singh (arrested on September 11, 2013)
3. Tarandip Singh (arrested on September 11, 2013)
4. Sarwan Singh (arrested on September 6, 2013)
