Unknown persons on Tuesdaylate evening hurled a petrol bomb on the house of a village head or Sarpanch in Hakripora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.A senior police official told GNS that the petrol bomb was hurled on the house of Bashir Ahmad Malik, son of Abdul Jabbar Malik, who unsuccessfully contested the recent Assembly polls as independent candidate.There was some minor damage to the house of Sarpanch, the official said.A local told GNS that the Sarpanch wasn’t at his house at the time of attack.
“The Sarpanch was associated with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and parted his ways with party on poll eve,” a source said.The police official said they had earlier also received information about hurling of a petrol bomb on Sarpanch’s house.Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Pulwama, Tejindar Singh, told GNS that police have started investigation into the incident.The police have also registered a case under FIR number 6/2015 under section 436 RPC.
