People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday said that the her party has to see restarting of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s policy for restoration of peace and normalcy in Kashmir which was later abandoned by the UPA government.Shortly after having an hour-long meeting with State Governor N.N.Vohra at Raj Bhavan Jammu, Mehbooba told reporters that her party has to ensure restart of the peace process as also the fulfillment of promises made by them to the people. She claimed to have the support of 55 members in a hung House of 87, but said that the party was not in a hurry to form government in Jammu and Kashmir.Responding to a question, Mehbooba Mufti said that her talks with the State Governor were not formal. “I had an informal meeting with the Governor and there was nothing serious in it,” she said.
Responding to a question, Mehbooba said that the people of Jammu Kashmir have given a very decisive, but pided mandate. “The people of Jammu Kashmir have given a very decisive, but pided mandate,” she said adding that issue is not just government formation, but also to respect the mandate given by the people of the state.When asked is PDP mulling to forge an alliance with BJP, Mehbooba said that BJP leadership shall respect the mandate of the people, which though “very decisive” is a “pided one. “They (BJP) have a greater responsibility to see that there is no more alienation among people of Kashmir who have this time turned up in huge numbers to cast vote,” she said.
