The family members of slain youth Burhan Yousuf Bhat alias Fisal who was killed along with his friend in Army firing at Chattergam in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district in November this year, Wednesday appealed the court to release the vehicle which his son used when army targeted it from the custody of police.“The vehicle (JK01R-0321) that belonged to my son is still in police possession. I appeal the court to give directions to police to release that vehicle,” he said adding that the villagers of Nowgam have decided to preserve that bullet ridden vehicle as a monument in the area.

“We will preserve that vehicle in the form of a monument, so that memories about our two innocent youth will never fade,” said a villager accompanying Muhammad Yousuf Bhat. Bhat reiterated that the photographs of all the 9 Indian soldiers should be published in daily newspapers so that people would come to know about those killer soldiers who played with the lives of innocent students. He claimed that Indian Army did not punish a single erring soldier. “The punishment was kept limited to press statements only. We demanded that the guilty soldiers should be tried in civil court and they should be charged for murder,” he said.

He reiterated that he is not going to accept any compensation from Army. Pertinently, Army has already maintained that it indicted nine soldiers including a Junior Commissioned Officer of 53 Rashtriya Rifles for killing two youth in Chattergam Chadoora area of Budgam district on November 3.Faisal Yusuf son of Muhammad Yusuf and Mehraj-u-din Dar son Ghulam Muhammad of Chattergam were killed while two other youth critically injured after soldiers of Army’s 53 RR opened fire on a Maruati Car at Chattegam on November 3, triggering wide rage and severe condemnation from all walks of life.
