The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today gave his nod to an ambitious program of providing houses to over 7200 Economically Weaker Sections families in the command area of Greater Mohali Area Development Authority.In a meeting held here in which Finance and Planning Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa and Health and Family Welfare Minister Madan Mohan Mittal besides senior officers of all concerned departments participated, it was decided that GMADA would strictly enforce the clause of providing housing to Economically Weaker Sections in all sanctioned mega projects under its command. Badal said that it was a bounden duty of SAD-BJP Government to provide shelter to every poor family by 2020 and directed GMADA authorities to complete the construction of 7200 houses within next two yearHe said that these houses to be constructed at the cost of R288 crore must be allotted to eligible EWS families as per stipulated norms and any persion from the norms would not be tolerated at any cost. Focusing on development of SAS Nagar Mohali as future IT destination, Badal said that GMADA should make all efforts to complete the ongoing infrastructure projects timely besides ensuring total quality control in the execution of projectHe directed that all future contracts for construction of roads should have in built clause of five year maintenance of that road. He asked GMADA to ensure proper up-keep of parks and coordinate with MC regarding uniform maintenance of all the roads in the Mohali. He said that we have to showcase Mohali as future IT destination and there should not be any compromise in execution of infrastructure project   Prominent amongst those, who participated in the meeting included Rakesh Singh, Chief Secretary Punjab, S.K. Sandhu, Principal Secretary to CM and Secretary Housing, Punjab, N.Kang, Financial Commissioner Revenue, P.Aujla, Principal Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister, Sarbjeet Singh, Chief Administrator GMADA and Gagandeep Singh Brar, Special Principal Secretary to CM.
