ternly condemning the continuous house arrest of Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other leaders, conglomerate spokesman Saturday said such dictatorial steps on part of government were “undemocratic, anti-political and inhuman as well.”In a statement he said that authorities have put ban on Mirwaiz’s social, political and religious activities by force. “Election drama is being conducted in Kashmir through undemocratic means and it has no significance in Kashmir other than it was a display of a military exercise,” he claimed. The spokesman said Kashmir has been turned into a military garrison on the eve of elections. “Hundreds of people have been rounded in Srinagar and Islamabad and lodged in jails while as nocturnal raids were conducted to arrest pro-freedom leaders and activists. Scores of Hurriyat leaders have been either house arrested or put in Jails. The militaristic pursuits of India in Kashmir have been exposed by these so called elections,” he added.
