Abdur Rauf Daud Merchant, convicted of killing Indian music baron Gulshan Kumar in 1997, was remanded in custody by a city court Wednesday.He was presented before the chief metropolitan magistrate's court Wednesday, bdnews24.com reported.An alleged aide of the Indian mafia don Dawoodd Ibrahim, Merchant has been in a Bangladesh prison for five years after he trespassed into the country in 2009.Detectives first arrested him in 2009 and he was rearrested from outside Gazipur's Kashimpur Jail as soon as he was released on bail.The Indian national had no passport or visa with him, said the detectives while pleading to take him into remand for seven days.Merchant had been serving a life sentence in an Indian jail from 2002 and was reported absconding by the Mumbai police after being released on parole in April 2009.
