Accusing National Conference for exploiting people by the slogan of Autonomy, Bhartiya Janta Party Wednesday said that the government of India (GOI) would never grant any pre-1953 status to Jammu and Kashmir. It also alleged that National Conference is misleading the people of the state in the name of hollow slogans.“For the Centre, the autonomy chapter is closed. Those who are advocating the Autonomy in their election compaining are exploiting and misleading the people of the state for their political means. Such a demand is not in the interest of the state,” Ramesh Arora State vice president and BJP’s Kashmir Affairs in charge told KNS.He said that the need is to discard such pisive demands and strengthen democratic and nationalist forces in this sensitive state.

“NC was resorting to election gimmicks by raking up the autonomy issue to “cover up their failures, on all fronts, in the state. The NC government is a non-performing government. Militancy gained roots in the state because of this government and no development work has been done,” he alleged. In 2000, the Dr Farooq Abdullah-led NC government had passed in the J&K assembly a resolution for autonomy, promising the pre-1953 status to the state including electing its own president and prime minister. But the then NDA government had rejected the resolution.

Commenting on the poll boycott and strike call given by the separatist leaders he said, “People have rejected the separatist leaders and as they are left with nothing they are instigating people of the state. People here want the developments and want the good governeance,”he said.Asking the separatist leaders to come forward and join the hands of the Prime Minister he said, “They should shun hardness and come forward to hold the hands of the Prime Minster for the developments of Kashmir.
