Despite Flood Memories: Kashmir Caste Votes, 70% Voting Recorded in Phase 1

The polling for phase first ends in Jammu and Kashmir's North districts, Central Kashmir and some parts of Ladakh. Figures suggests that 70 per cent voter turn out has been recorded in Kashmir elections, While addressing a News Conference in Winter Capital, Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi said that its was peaceful voting segement in first phase of Legislative Assembly Polls.Meanwhile, situation remained peaceful through out the day in Central Kashmir's Gandarbal district and North Kashmir's Bandipora district. The constiuencies were voting held includes Gurez, Bandipora, Sonawari, Kangan and Ganderbal (in Kashmir), Bhaderwah, Ramban and Banihal (in Jammu pision); and Nobra, Leh, Kargil and Zanskar (in Ladakh).

Bandipora, assembly segments of Bandipora, Gurez and Sonawari, the polling percentage respectively is 70 per cent, 77.15 per cent and 80.10 per cent.In district Ganderbal which recorded lowest percentage of polling, Kangan recorded 76.8  per cent, while assembly segment of Ganderbal recorded 53 per cent.The district Doda also witnessed brisk polling, where Doda assembly segment recorded 79.6 per cent, while Bhaderwah assembly segment recorded 70.18 per cent.In Ramban and Banihal, the polling percentage recorded is 68 and 69 per cent respectively.Comparatively the Leh district recorded 75.16 per cent in Nobra and 66 per cent in Leh assembly segment,.Similarly in district Kargil, Zanskar recorded 71.07 per cent, while assembly segment of Kargil recorded 59.82 per cent.
