Gun battle that shattered dreams

As the fierce gun battle between the forces and militants ended up on Friday with the killing of two LeT militants, it left behind the trail of devastation for Abdul Hamid Dar whose sister was scheduled to get married on Saturday, November 15.According to the KNS correspondent, Dar a resident of the Chan Mohalla Chinagam Kulgam lives next to the house wherein the encounter between forces and militants started. While recollecting the horror day, Dar told KNS correspondent that the entire area went horrified with the thuds of blasts and bullets. He said that his own house was also damaged during firing with the essentials he had earlier brought for his sister’s wedding too goes vandalized.

Pointing towards the piles of timber lying in his courtyard, Dar from his damaged house stated that the encounter has shattered all his dreams and also the dreams of his sister. “Now the dreadful months of winter are approaching and we have nothing but this rubble to live with,” said Dar with moist eyes.“The most turbulent thing for me is not the destruction of my house but the timing of the episode, as the encounter ended, it was only a day after that the marriage of my sister was scheduled. The valuables appear to be the garbage and the house in no way resembles to that of the house wherein we used to live and spend the days of joys and miseries together. The encounter has ended with the inerasable mark on my mind,” Dar said.

According to the KNS correspondent, other houses were also damaged including the house of Muhammad Ismayil Dar, Abdul Hamid Dar, Abdul Jabbar Dar, Sanaullah Dar, and Ghulam Hasan Dar while as some houses with the partial damages belong to Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Shiraz Ahmed Dar, Bashir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Arif Dar, Muhammad Shaban Dar, Ghulam Nabi Dar, Ghulam Rasool Dar and Muhammad Shafi Dar.Two militants and a civilian were killed in South Kashmir’s Kulgam on Friday. Two LeT militants were killed during the gun battle. A soldier was said to be in critical condition in firing that also injured another soldier and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper.
