Manohar Parrikar Visits INS Hansa at Goa

Manohar Parrikar, honourable Defence Minister visited Naval Air Station INS Hansa at 1100 hrs on 14 nov 14. He was received by Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, Flag Officer Commanding In Chief, Western Naval Command and Rear Admiral BS Parhar, NM, Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area. An impressive guard was paraded in honour of the Defence Minister of India. He was apprised of naval operations, progress and issues pertaining to coastal security and future development plans of Indian Navy at Goa by the Commander-in- Chief. On taking over as the 36th Defence Minister of the country, the Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar had said, he would maintain the fast pace of acquisition set in motion by the government for the defence forces while ensuring transparency at every stage. Before being inducted into the union council of ministers on Nov 09, 2014 Shri Manohar Parrikar was the Chief Minister of Goa, first from 2000 to 2005 and later from march 2012 to Nov 2014. He is the first IIT graduate to become a chief minister of any Indian state.
