Wheat procurement in Punjab crossed the all time record figure of 120 lac tonne on Thursday, reflecting the hard work of  Punjabi farmers. Congratulating the farmers of Punjab for maintaining the pre- eminent position of Punjab,  Adaish Partap Singh Kairon, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Punjab said that they have made every Punjabi proud by this. He said tht by today’s evening all agencies have procured 12027264 tonnes of wheat. Meanwhile, the state agencies have also starting procuring wheat for state food as on Thursday 73016 tonnes were procured in this pool. Till May 10, PUNSUP had procured 2726373 tonnes (22.67%) whereas MARKFED procured 2647571 tonnes (22.05%). PUNGRAIN procured 2636005 tonnes (16.93%), PAIC had procured 1365662 tonnes (11.39%) whereas PSWC was able to procure 1368595 tonnes (11.32 %) of wheat. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 1808115 tonnes (15.04%).   The State Government has set up more than 1750 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of wheat, the spokesman added.
