Police files case against 2 arrested militants

Police on Friday registered a case against the two members of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit who were arrested last week from Srinagar City.Police sources had told GNS that Special Operation Group of Police (SOG) during a raid on October 26 arrested two persons Mohammad Irfan Haroon resident of Tawheed Colony, Natipora and Shakeel Ahmad Bhat resident of Haja Mohalla, Mehjoornagar, Natipora from their respective homes.Today police has filed a case FIR no.89/2014 under section 7/25 I.A act at Police Station Nowgam, Srinagar and starts further investigations in this regard. More arrests are expected in the case”, they said.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman in a statement issued to GNS said that the arrested militants were planning to carry out subversive activities in Srinagar city. “A large cache of arms and ammunition including 03 AK 47 rifle, 14 Pistols and 02 wireless sets has been recovered from them”.He claimed Srinagar Police received a specific input regarding the activities of the sleeper cell of LeT militants who were active in Nowgam- Chanpora areas of the city.“The members of the sleeper cell were specifically tasked to carry out subversive activities in and around Srinagar city in the coming days”, he said.
